Our Club met last Thursday to raise money to support the
Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser. It was really pleasing the level of support with forty-five members
and guests attending to listen to our Guest speaker of the day,Simone Noelker, Manager of the BRICC Wellness Centre.
Simone spoke of the work of the Wellness Centre being a place
designed as a welcoming retreat for patients and carers. Regardless of where a
patient is having treatment, they are welcome to use the Wellness Centre and
its programs. With the needs of the patient the number one priority, the
Wellness Centre has been created to be more home-like than a typical hospital
setting. It has comfortable couches and chairs, television, fireplace, kids
play area, reading material and kitchen facilities where patients and visitors
can make a cup of coffee, heat up their lunch or relax.
Patients and families are welcome to use the centre before, during and after appointments and can use the centre to relax, meet with others or attend a wide range of wellness programs. All programs are free for patients.
