Rotary Club of Ballarat

Guest Speaker - Alistair Finlay, Times News Group + Voi Williams Dual Sapphires11/8/22 Gallery

The highlight of this week was the presentation to Voi Williams of a double sapphire Paul Harris Fellow pin. This follows hot on the heels of Voi receiving her Paul Harris Fellow recognition at the recent changeover dinner.  We all recognise the great work that Voi does for our Club and for the wider Ballarat community. Voi is a very valued member of the Club and it was a pleasure to be able to publicly recognise her in this way.
THIS WEEK'S GUEST SPEAKER
We were indeed fortunate to have the Editor of the Ballarat Times, Alistair Finlay speak to the Club this week. The Ballarat Times is part of the Times News Group which produces papers at a range of locations including the Surf Coast, Golden Plains, Geelong and Bendigo in addition to Ballarat. The Ballarat Times is a strong supporter of our Club and is always ready to cover our events (including an article on the recent induction of our two Paul Harris Fellows) and is a strong advocate for and supporter of SpringFest.
It was comforting to note his emphasis on developing
local talent across all elements of the production cycle. Alistair did, however, comment on the difficulty in re- cruiting staff at the moment. In answering questions Alistair expanded on the business model used by the Times News Group. He reinforced the need for the pa- pers provide a unique offering and suggested the growth of the Group was evidence of them finding their 'niche' within our community.
