Thread Together Presentation 24/11/2022 Gallery

We were fortunate to hear from Nicole Roberts, Child and Family Services (CAFS) Program and Volunteer Lead for the Threads Together Hub. Nicole spoke with great passion about the amazing Threads Together program that provides high quality new clothing and footwear to individuals in need and referred by a range of charities such as St. Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Army as well as schools. This incredible program operates Australia-wide and has over 600 fashion partners who donate goods valued at over $8 million and serves over 200,000 people annually. The program also saves millions of pieces of clothing being sent to landfill every year. The Ballarat hub of Threads Together was opened in 2021 to serve anyone in the community identified as in need. The goods are provided at no cost to the clients. In the first 12 months of operation, the Ballarat Threads Together program has assisted over 1000 clients and given away 7,500 items of clothing. The Ballarat program is supported by 14 trained volunteers and receives referrals from over 30 local organizations. The local Threads Together program is working hard to secure $200,000 annually to support the service. It also has plans to expand to provide a mobile service and to establish offices in Ararat, Bacchus Marsh and Daylesford.
