Santos Science Program Recipient 1/12/22 Gallery

Our ongoing financial support for the Santos Science program has been highly valued by our many scholarship recipients. Last week we were treated to an engaging presentation by one of our 2022 Santos Science Program scholars, Nuaym Haque. Nuaym is a Year 9 student at Ballarat High School. Unfortunately, our second scholar, Byron Rankin was unable to attend the meeting due to a medical matter.

Nuaym addressed the club members with a level of confidence and clarity well beyond his years. He outlined the program he undertook at Federation University along with 17 other students from across our region. The program included fun and challenging activities such as analysis of horse blood, solving challenging physics problems, exploring all elements of gold mining (including a field trip to the Ballarat gold mine) and participating in sports science experiments. Nuaym commented on how the program increased his awareness of the job opportunities available in science and the enjoyment he and his fellow students had in participating in the wide array of challenging, hands-on activities. Nuaym also expressed his thanks to Ms. Belinda Wehl, Ballarat High School Science Coordinator for supporting him to attend the program.
