Police Veterans - Tim Drake Induction 2023_02_09 Gallery

The highlight of the meeting was the induction of a new member, Tim Drake under the sponsorship of John Valpied. Tim hales from Mt Gambier where his father was a pharmacist and he grew up as one of four children. He has a long personal and family history of involvement in Rotary. Tim was a member of Rotaract and his father was a founding member of the Gambier West Rotary Club and Paul Harris Fellow. Tim currently lives in Creswick with his wife Andrea and their six year old daughter, Ruby. He is the General Manager of AB Insurance Solutions in Ballarat and has been involved in the General Insurance industry since 1989. Tim will take up a role on our Community Service Committee and his mentor will be John Valpied.

We were also fortunate to hear from well known Ballarat identity Barry Trainor at last week's meeting. Barry was a serving member of Victoria Police from 1966 to 1992. During this time he was a Detective Sargent at Ballarat CIB and Senior Sargent at Ballarat Police Station.  Upon retirement from Victoria Police Barry entered politics and was elected as the member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Ballarat East from 1992 to 1999. Barry delivered a passionate address in which he outlined his extensive voluntary work since 1999 providing welfare services to retired members of Victoria police living in western Victoria .
