SpringFest Update
Our very own indomitable Rob Glass addressed us last week to provide an update on SpringFest. Rob provided both a review of the SpringFest activities for 2022 and an overview of planning for SpringFest 2023. Our SpringFest activities in 2022 included the very successful harness racing evening, on-line raffle and the Christmas Carols Market. Rob provided an overview of the key issues that resulted in Market Sunday being cancelled; the most significant being the waterlogged areas surrounding the lake as a result of the unusually wet spring in 2022. Rob expressed his thanks to his committee for their tireless efforts to make SpringFest 2022 a success; notwithstanding the enormous disappointment of having to cancel Market Sunday. Despite the obvious set- backs in 2022 we were able to allocate a total of $7500 to our three community partners, Phoenix Secondary College, Minors Rest Primary School and Mt. Edgerton/Bungaree Primary School, from an overall surplus of $13,548:
Rob outlined the challenges being worked through regarding the preparation of the submission to Heritage Victoria to gain permission to hold Market Sunday in the Lake Wendouree environs. He reported that his committee is working closely with the City of Ballarat and he is hopeful that the submission will be ready in time to have a decision about our ability to delivery the 2023 SpringFest Market Sunday by the end of June.

Welcome our new member - "Bee"
It was a thrill to induct our newest member Bee Kahar last week. Bee was sponsored by Jan Davidson and her mentor will be Barb Glass. Bee has a strong background in the media and will join Jan on our Vocational Committee. Bee has also volunteered to take on the significant role as editor of our newsletter (a big vote of thanks from the current editor!)
