Change Over Dinner 2022 -2023 - 15/6/23 Gallery

t may have been a freezing night when Rotarians and their guests made way to Peasant on Lydiard Street for the Change Over Dinner, but once inside, no one could ignore the warmth coming from the delighted chatter of members - new and old, the clanging of wine glasses, and the intertwining ivy vines among silver cased candles that sprawled on each table.

Wes McKnight commenced the evening with a warm welcome and apologies, a brief Welcome to Country by Sam McIntosh and the Invocation beautifully read by CarmelWest. Toasts were made, with a Loyal Toast by Voi Williams, and a toast to Rotary International and Response by Barb Glass and Past District Governor Ron Pickford. Mayor Des Hudson gave a rather candid and at times, amusing acknowledgement from City of Ballarat, and this was followed by a presentation of recognitions by President Warren Payne and Past President Ian Forbes. While everyone was served their main courses of either slow cooked pork or coq au vin, Rotarians and guests witnessed the recognition of two individuals who have inspired the respect and endorsement as a resolute supporter of the Rotary Club of Ballarat. The Rotary Club of Ballarat has designated both Alan Campbell and Alan Smith to receive the Paul Harris Fellow honours. We then had an acknowledgement of the 2022 - 2023 Board and heard the final speech from President Warren Payne. The night wouldn't be complete without Raffle winners, and these were animatedly announced by Wes as the deserts of simple lemon tarts or baked chocolate mousses made its way to the tables. President Warren then inducted 2023 - 2024 President Samantha McIntosh who delivered a very upbeat speech about leading the pack into the next term. Emcee Wes then called on the new 2023 - 2024 board and Committee Chairs to come upfront to receive their theme badges - Create hope in the world.
